iGeocacher Upload Links: New users start with "Simple" uploads.Over time other file formats may appear here. At the moment, I support the GPX and LOC file formats common to geocachers. They are DIFFERENT XML formats so be sure and use the corresponding link above. I've just added (9/27) an experimental translator for "open GPX" files which seems to be a variant of GPX favored "down under" in Australia and other parts of the world. Those of you that use that format please report any issues. Also, most of you get your pocket queries in zipped format. Be sure and unzip the files first. You can't upload zip files here. When Godaddy moves to CF8, we might look into enhancing that as CF8 can handle zip archives. For now I need you to upload your GPX file (not the waypoints file that is also included in the zip.) Your cache data aggregates in your account until you specify when you want it cleared. So if you just upload the same pocket query as it is updated be sure and clear first or you'll get duplicates in your account. On occasion, you may get a "server error" here that talks about the server being "busy" or restarting. If you do, just wait a minute and try again. This appears to be a GoDaddy "feature." |
Downloading: Set up: In your iPhone/iPod settings for iGeocacher, make sure the URL is: http://www.ayefon.mobi/geo/chunker.cfm?id=<your registered id> Once this is done you should not have to change this setting unless you reinstall the program. Download: On the dowloads tab of iGeocacher, select the top right button labeled "Ayefon." Data you've uploaded here should download. The group buttons are ignored as you have already assigned the groups using the upload screen here. Downloads are cumulative so be sure and clear your database/groups using the clear buttons before repeating a file download or you'll get duplicates you probably don't want. The aggregation allows you to build up your database on the iPhone/iPod Touch from many different files as desired. This server is merely a parser/translator for the convenience of iGeocacher users. The files uploaded are NOT stored on this server but are merely read upon upload and the data is immediately translated into a compact XML format proprietary to iGeocacher which can be dowloaded efficiently over low bandwidth connections such as those typical of mobile devices. At all times the data remains private and in the sole control of the account holder. It is not collected or otherwise distributed from this server to other parties. This service is provided at no charge as an ancillary benefit for iGeocacher customers. Other use of the server or data is prohibited. |
